Monaco Ville

Sitting atop a rocky outcrop and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, Monaco Ville is home to the city’s most alluring sights. It’s well connected to the port area of Condamine by the Rampe Major, a pedestrian ramp build in the sixteenth century to connect the port and place.

Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is one of Monaco’s 5 main areas. It’s situated north of the city port and constitutes that part of the city visitors associate most closely with the principality of their dreams. Above all, Monte Carlo is famous for its mega casinos and Grand Prix.

In the 1850s, Monaco was Europe’s poorest state. Its luck was turned around with the grand opening of the Monte Carlo Casino, which was Europe’s first, in 1865. The dull sounding Plateau Spelugues where it stood was then renamed Monte Carlo, and before long it was ranked among Europe’s most glamorous playgrounds.

Jardin Exotique

Who would have thought cacti could be a lot of fun? With nearly 7,000 variations of cacti and succulents, the Jardin Exotique is absolute paradise for prickle lovers. And if 7,000 cacti is about too many, the garden is still worth visiting for its stunning views. Admission includes entry to the Musee Prehistorique and a 30-minute tour of the beautiful Observatory Caves.

Musée National de Monaco

This is no usual collection of stuffed animals and dusty rocks: the Musee National Monaco is fully dedicated to dollies and their spooky siblings automata. The huge museum has everything from a dancing robot to the renowned Ken and Barbie owned by the gorgeous Princess Caroline and a massive eighteenth century nativity scene full of little locals. Just put your hair in amazing pigtails and get on down!

Monte Carlo Casino

If it wasn’t for the casino, the principality of Monaco would be just another tiny town on the Cote d’Azur, somewhere Parisian public servants could take their personal assistants for a dirty weekend. Instead, Monaco boasts a fairly tale land built on pure fortune, in which the super rich advertise the very fact that they have so much they’re literally throwing it away.

You might not have 2 euros to rub together but certainly you can soak up the fine atmosphere and use to loos for free, providing you can easily disguise yourself as a money bag with spare cash to burn. However, if you fancy penetrating the inner sanctums, you will need a substantial wallop in your wallet.
